When I first worked on the Media Bias Chart from 2016 to 2018, it was just me and nowhere near academically rigorous. I founded Ad Fontes Media in part to change that, and dreamed that one day, with a large team of analysts, we could create an enormous dataset for media bias using the most robust content analysis methodology possible. (I dream of nerdy things.)
I knew that in order to study the effects of media bias and reliability on [X], researchers would first need baseline measures of what that bias and reliability actually are. I imagined that news ratings could facilitate the study of media effects on all kinds of societal outcomes.
Below is a list of five academic papers published in the last six months that cite Ad Fontes Media’s bias and reliability data as a baseline measurement for studying related social science and online phenomena (h/t superstar librarian and analyst Sarah Hood (she/her) for compiling these).
